How Pro Tutoring Started
Pro Tutoring began in 2019 when founder Alan Prohorov set out to create a more personal kind of academic support. He saw that many students were struggling not because they were incapable, but because school often moves too quickly, teaches every student the same way, and leaves families feeling unsure about how to help.
The idea behind Pro Tutoring was different from the beginning: before we teach, we take time to understand the student. Every student has a different learning style, personality, confidence level, and academic goal, so every lesson should be built with that student in mind.

Meet the Founder
Pro Tutoring was founded by Alan Prohorov with a clear purpose: to create the kind of academic support that feels personal, thoughtful, and genuinely built around the student.
Alan graduated Summa Cum Laude with a master’s degree from New York University, where his academic experience reinforced the importance of strong mentorship, clear communication, and disciplined learning. But his approach to education has been shaped just as much outside the classroom. Each year, Alan travels to Nepal to live with, learn from, and teach English to Buddhist monks, an experience that has deeply influenced the patience, presence, and individualized attention at the center of Pro Tutoring.
That combination of academic excellence, personal discipline, and a belief in meeting each student where they are is what makes Pro Tutoring different. Alan built the company to help students feel understood first, then challenged, guided, and supported in a way that helps them grow with confidence.
